Needlepoint

SAHARA CAMEL TAPESTRY ► is now in stock. This Moroccan inspired design is stitched in the same colours as Morani Elephant. The camel faces the other way to Morani, so now there is the perfect companion for the other end of the couch or an opportunity for a framed pair of original artworks.

Cross Stitch
Our treasure trove of ‘Little Gems’ just keeps growing. ? We recently added four more new designs to this range of cross stitch charts. Still on a Moroccan theme there’s ‘Fountain in Fez’ and inspired by Scandinavian cross stitch there’s ‘Norwegian Star’. ‘Sunlight’ was created as a partner for ‘Moonlight’ and with the help of the new project guide for bags you can now incorporate these designs into a little bag for daytime and one for the evening! Little girls love their bags too, and with the addition of Bugs Galore and another new project guide, it’s easy to make a lovely novelty gift for a special little someone. We are now starting to offer some slightly larger counted cross stitch designs in chart form. The first one of these is titled,’Noah Said…’ and if you take a look at this design you’ll know just what he said and why! The animals in this Noah’s Ark Cross Stitch are certainly in no hurry to avoid the flood. ?

Patchwork and Appliqué

If you’ve been to one of the craft fairs we’ve attended recently you’ll have noticed another addition to our range of needlework products – a selection of patterns for simple appliqué based patchwork projects ?.

I know many of you are like me and love to work with fabric and thread in different ways so whether you are a cross stitcher who is looking to try something new or a dedicated patchwork enthusiast looking for something a little different, why not take a look. All detailed instructions are a lovely large A4 format and pattern sheets are A3 and usually at full size. There are also good sized colour pictures on the covers, showing details as well as the complete item. Some patterns also include extras such as sequins, beads or beautiful hand made buttons to embellish the design Any embroidery is kept simple and clear diagrams together with written instructions are always included.

Brisbane Prize Winner
The lucky winner of a $50 Spotted Skink voucher at the Brisbane Craft and Quilt Fair in October 2007 was Gillian from Stafford. Congratulations to Gillian and a big thank you to all of you who visited our stand. One of the joys for me personally is that these shows offer the opportunity to chat about life and your love of stitching.

The greatest compliment I received at this fair was from a lady who purchased both a Morani Elephant and a Sahara Camel needlepoint kit with the intention of stitching one each for her two daughters. Her aim was to create something to leave behind of personal value that would be treasured "long after I'm gone". Although this may at first sound rather morbid, I think it sums up beautifully why we still value hand crafted work more than machine produced products. Not only to they provide joy to the person creating them, but they are the most personal of gifts with a value far beyond the original price ticket.
